Observatory of Participation, Conflict and the Environment
Participation, mobilisation and repression around neo-extractionist and environmental conflicts
This observatory is the result of 3 years of research carried out by the team of the project Conversing with Goliath: Participation, mobilization and repression around neo-extractionist and environmental conflicts. Public access to these findings is intended to fill the information void on socio-environmental conflicts and participatory institutions in Mexico.
ABOUT THE TEAM
Who are we?
Dr. Gisela Zaremberg
Research professor at FLACSO Mexico. Her main research topics are political sociology, participation, networks and gender.

Dr. Valeria Guarneros-Meza
Reader in the Department of Politics, People and Place in De Montfort University. Her main research topics are development studies, public administration, public policy and citizen participation.

Dr. Marcela Torres Wong
Research professor at FLACSO Mexico. Her main research topics are indigenous movements, extractionist industries and participatory institutions in Bolivia, Peru and Mexico.

MA. Georgina Flores
Research professor at FLACSO, Mexico, and doctoral candidate in Political Science at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She is an expert in quantitative methods.

MA. Lourdes Gallardo
CIESAS Graduate and Research Associate. Her thesis examined socio-environmental conflicts in indigenous territories. She is currently the project coordinator of the CCiudadano-CIESAS Directorate of Applied Research and Knowledge Management.

BA. Mariana Róo
Communication and Philosophy student at the UNAM and UP, with an interest in research and media-analysis.
